Meat talks
Three days have been set aside early next week for a resumption in Christchurch of conciliation talks for the meat workers’ national award. The talks are expected to focus mainly on wages now that the question of freezingstore temperatures , has been put in the hands of a committee of inquiry. When the talks were last held the employers had offered a 3 per cent increase plus incorporation of the 1976 cost-of-living adjustment and the 1978 general wage order. The Meat Workers’ Union was seeking a 12 per cent increase plus incorporation.
