WELLINGTON FUNCTIONS OF THE COMMUNICATIONS e ADVISORY COUNCIL: c The Communications Advisory Council has been set up by the Government with terms of reference which include the formulation, co-ordi-nation, revision and recommendation of longer term national telecommunications policies and the r. monitoring of their implementation. £ DUTIES OF DIRECTOR: The Director will be under the direction and r - control of the Council and will be responsible to the Council for: :t — making recommendations on the organisation and staffing of the Planning Unit. — the efficient management of the Planning 7 Unit. - — the control and direction of staff comprising the Planning Unit. — the provision of assistance to the Council to enable it to fulfil its terms of reference. QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND: $ This is an important senior appointment which requires the applicant to have a good knowledge in the field of telecommunications. Ideally a professionally qualified engineer having management experience in a telecommunication orientated organisation is sought. However, appli--0 cants from other professional disciplines will be - considered. SALARY: Salary appropriate to the appointment and commensurate with qualifications and experience will be negotiated if the successful applicant is - appointed from outside Government service. r If the successful applicant is an employee of the Government service, secondment to the Planning Unit at present salary will be arranged. Suitable arrangements for salary advancement which would normally accrue would be made bv the Council in discussion with the parent service. TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: A contract of service will be negotiated with ? the successful applicant, which will include the proviso that either party may terminate employment on giving 6 months notice.
