Members of the Associ- > ation of Radio Transmitters will demonstrate their activities at the i Canterbury Show this ' week. As well as a static dis- i play, they will call other I radio amateurs in- New ‘ Zealand and perhaps in i other parts of the world. I The Christchurch branch of the association has 300 members, and holds regular meeting and radio training classes in its clubrooms at Galbraith Avenue. A vehicle to be open for inspection has been used for some years for communications in search and rescue operations, ■ usually in mountain searches. It is also available for use in civil defence or other i (mergencies. Wholly owned by the i .ranch, it is well I equipped, with emergency ■ power, is self-contained, and operates on a wide range of radio frequencies.
