Beetles and telephones

BEETLE AND DICE This beetle-making game is fun, and you only need a friend, a dice, pencils, and papers. This is how you play. Each number of dots on the dice represents a part of the body of a beetle: One is the trunk, Two is an eye, Three is an antenna, Four is the head, Five is a leg, Six is the tail. The purpose of the game is to be the first to complete the beetle by throwing the necessary numbers. Each player has a pencil and a piece of paper, and takes it in turn to throw the dice. Before anyone can. start drawing a beetle, he must throw a one so that the beetle has the main part of its body to which the other parts can be attached. Next, a four must be thrown so that there is a head to which the ej'es and antennae can be added.

As a beetle has two eyes and two antennae,

two and three must be thrown twice. Five must be thrown six times for its six i6gs. TELEPHONE GAME It can be lonely spending a day in bed, but if you make this toy telephone you can talk to other members of your family. It works well. Here is what you need: 2 paper tumblers or 2 empty tin cans; a piece of string about 3-5 m long; an old candle. Ask someone to make a hole in the bottom of each container. Thread the two ends of the string through the holes and make big knots in the string so that it does not slip out. Cover the string with Wax by rubbing a candle over it several times. Now the telephone is ready to use. Be careful to make sure that the string is always taut and that it does not touch anything while you are speaking, otherwise the vibrations made bv the sounds as they travel along it will be broken.
