New super, payments system wrking
Superannuitants are j able to pick up payments | from the Post Office every ■ fortnight. The new system, I which came into effect on ■ Tuesday, replaces postings ! of payments. j “This entirely eliminates ! payments falling into the I wrong hands, getting lost ' in the mail, or being caught in mail delays,” said the Chief Postmaster at Christchurch Mr E. A. Grandi. The passbook system is i <me of two now open to j national superannuitants. The other is direct credi-
ting of payments to an account , at any bank. On presentation of a special payments book issued by the Post Office, and a withdrawal slip, superannuitants will be able W collect amounts Owing each fortnight. The book will identify the holder and state the amount to be collected. This amount will be checked by computer. The full amount must be withdrawn each time; in this respect the system differs from an account. Only the Post Office runs th? service.
