Flying fatalities disquiet
PA Wellington The Meteorological Service is concerned about the recent spate of fatal light-aircraft accidents, according to t b e Minister of Aviation, (Mr McLachlan).
“Sometimes there is a communication breakdown between forecasters and
pilots, or a lack of understanding by pilots of weather hazards,” Mr McLachlan said at the Aviation Industry Conference at Nelson. Better training material for new pilots was being studied, he said, and the Meteorological Service was reviewing ways of presenting its forecasts.
