New Mt Davy plan
PA Auckland A firm contract to supply at least 7.5 M tonnes of coking coal from Mount Davy to Japan in a 15year period is being considered by West Coast Resources, Ltd, an associate company of N.Z. Forest Products, Ltd. The chairman of West Coast Resources (Mr D. O. Walker) said last evening that further investigative drilling would be done this summer. Two executives of Mit-
subishi Mining and Cement Company, Ltd. Messrs Y. Asami, the general manager, and K. Mori, the chief geologist, were in New Zealand to discuss the drilling. The Mount Davy project had been delayed for some time by the depressed state of the steel industry. The situation now was optimistic but any deal was dependent on the investition and discussions with the Government on mining and exportation.
