NZPA-Reuter Yokosuka New Zealand’s Black; Arrow ill skippered by Tony Bouzaid was placed tenth in the world quarter-ton sailing championship at Yokosuka, ; Japan, on Saturday. New Zealand gained 123 5 points — 7.5 points ahead of Hong Kong’s Shiny Shovel (Neil Pryde). Winner of the series was the Japanese yacht Magician IV (Yasuyiki Hakomori) with, ,197.375 points, which finish- 1 . ied second in the final of the! I five race series, a 200 nauitical mile offshore event. The second over-all place- i .getter was also Japan —i ‘Kamikaze Express (Mikioj ITokano) with 193.500 points,! ! winner of the last race. ! Australia’s Sea Flyer! i(Hugh Treharne) was placed! !third over-ail. Sea Flyer was, l third to finish in the last' race. Fourth over-all was West Germany’s Samurais (Axel Mohnhaupt) with 175.250
points, followed by a British entry, Wings (Bob Fisher) ■with 163.5 points. Twenty-six vessels out of I an initial fleet of 32 yachts from 10 nations competing in the championship took part in the long final race. Only 19 managed to finish but two of them, Japan’s I Magician VI (Kazunori Komatsu) and Papua New Guinea’s Velocity (Bruce Tardrew) were disqualified after a collision shortly after i the start on Thursday mornling, the organisers said. !
