Sapling impressive in training

Sapling and Trusty Scot drew attention to their prospects in the New Zealand Cup tomorrow when they worked at Addington Raceway yesterday. A fit looking northern pair, Bronze Trail and Rondel, also completed useful tasks. Sapling strode over 3200 m on his own in about 4min 235, with Ross Given allowing him to take 3min 13.4 s for the final 2400 m. He was not at lop over his last 800 m in Imin ss, and his last 400 m in 30.85. Sapling is fighting fit and looks better than on any of his other visi to Addington. “I couldn’t Ire more pleased with him. I think he’s as well as he’s ever been.” said his part-owner k d trainer, Lionel Given. Trusty Scot was given solid pace work over several laps of the course, but at no stage was he allowed to approach top speed. He was

timed over one 400 m section in 32.45, but for most of his training he was not rating much better than 2min 20s. He looks to have thrived since his Kaikoura Cup of a week ago, plus his easy run at trials last Thursday. He could not be fitter.

Bronze Trail, driven by Alistair Purdon, went easily in a solo run over 2400 m in 3min 11.25, his last 800 m in Imin 1,45, and his last 400 m r 29.25. He has obviously had plenty of work and looks in great heart for his big test tomorrow. Framalda made the pace for Ils Voss and Rondel in their run over 3200 m in 4min 31.25. The two trotters finished together, three-parts of a length in front of Rondel, which was making ground steadily near the end with-out being asked for a serious effort. Their final 800 m took Imin 2.25, with the last 400 m in 20.25.

Framalda has not done, well on previous visits to I Addington, but she looks 1 ready to improve in the Worthy Queen Handicap.
