Labour Mob

PA Wellington Mongrel Mob leaders in Wellington yesterday criticised the attitudes of the Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) to Maoris and gangs and called on their members to vote for Labour candidates in the General Election. A spokesman, who declined to be named, said Mr Muldoon's comments at his political meetings in the last week had shown he was “using Maoris to have a dig at Labour.” Mr Muldoon had earlier been friendlv with black-

power groups but was now saying he would crack down on gangs. “We can’t tell our members how to vote, but w’e recommend they should vote for Labour," said the spokesman. “If they can’t vote for them they should vote for Social Credit or one of the others.” Five executive members of the Wellington Mongrel Mob met to discuss Mr Muldoon’s actions. Their president, who declined to be named, said there were “about 24” members of the group in Wellington.
