Yard men arrested

Detective ) Inspector David Draper, ' ' aged 34, and Detective Ser- . geant Kevin Carrington, aged 31. The officers are jointly 1 |charged with conspiracy to.;
possess, supply, and otherwise deal in cannabis resin. Carrington is further; charged with dishonestly handling a quantity of cann bis, stealing a quantity of i "Lebanese gold” cannabis, 'and dishonestly handling a quantity of “Lebanese gold” cannabis. A special application was made in court by the counsel for Draper who asked that no photographs of the three officers should appear: in the press. "Ail three were in the Drugs Squad,” he said. “In their capacity as members of the squad, they had to be in a certain position as under-
cover agents talking with informers. “If their photographs are published in the press, there are numerous people, such as informers, whose lives could be in jeopardy fori talking with these men." The Magistrate agreed; !that lives might be in dan- ■ ger. "I think it would be quite wrong for any photographs I of any of the accused to be published. I think it would! ! amount to contempt of court.” he said. The three men were re-| manded to appear again at Horseferry Road Magis-, trate’s Court on December 18.
