Auctions Dear Reader, No doubt you are expecting to hear from me seeing that our antique auction is but five days away. There is certainly much to talk about. I expect you read “About Antiques” m “The Press” last Tuesday. That briei summary could do little more than whet the appetite, so now I must acquaint you fully with next Wednesday’s catalogue. It seems right that I should first mention a magnificent jewellery collection, the proceeds from the sale of which is bequeathed to the N.Z. Heart Foundation and the N.Z.Cancer Research Society. HI, together with steel blade knives, comports, fine table centre piece, early wine labels, condiments of fine quality, flatware, casters, postage stamp holder, potato ring-sugar basin (rare), asparagus servers, toddy ladles, sauceboats, sweet dishes, cream jugs, sugar basins, wine ,‘ nnel .-. ladles - Dutch annointing spoon c. 1750, and a set of 4 dinner plates, 10m aiameter, 1810, with Order of The Garter insignia (very rare). Geo. 11l writing bureau, cradle circa 1700, nice rocking chair, walnut chaise-longue, work table, occ. tables, elm cottage chairs, Rosewood Canterbury, oak bureau-chest, Wellington chest, fine inlaid mahog. chiffonierebookcase, drum table, brass and iron 4ft 6in bed, brass and iron cot, bedroom chairs side chairs, inlaid wal. window tables, particularly good marquetrv side table (connoisseur’s item), desks, writing boxes, pole screen, brass mirror ni escreen, good copper, brassware, a pedal organ, etc. As usual the showing of ceramics is choice indeed: Beautiful Royal Worcester signed vases, cups and saucers, Minton, Royal Doulton, Dresden L ea ’® a F' Satsuma tea -set, Wedgwood, Imari, crystal, ruby candle lustres, Delft, rienrn pore, urns, chma mantel-clock and supporters, plates, dishes. io have three 18th century longcase clocks, an 18th cent, skeleton clock and several mantel and small clocks in one catalogue is quite an event. These are wen worth seeing. nf rat i? e . r scarce now. so it is pleasing to offer a small collection °Ji ? tankards . and dishes. In addition there is some fine Sheffield plate and E.P. ware.
