Killing in Basque country
NZPA-Reuter Bilbao ! Four men believed to be j separatist guerrillas have I killed two para-military civil i guards with machine-guns and seriously wounded two others in the latest outbreak of violence in the turbulent Basque country. The police say the two guardsmen died instantly in a hail of bullets fired from behind a wall. They were returning to their barracks ini Gt echo. One of the survivors had a bullet wound in his head, and the other was shot several times in the chest and legs. The gunmen escaped by car. No-one has claimed responsibility for the attack, but the police said it 'ooked like the work of the Basque! guerrilla group, E.T.A. The deaths bring the num-1 ’■><. of policemen and civil guards killed in Spair this! year to 24.
