Rain postpones cricket
Cricketers can expect to lose some Saturday play because of weather but the postponement this w.eek-end must have been a particular disappointment for the Burn-side-West senior team, which had been drawn to play St Albans. In the first round St Albans had the only outright win and leads the competition with 10 points. BurnsideWest, the pennant holder of last season, was equal second with four points. The vital second round will now be limited next Saturday to 40 overs an innings, with bowlers limited to a maximum of 10 overs each. The teams which win
will earn four championship points. The other matches next Saturday are between Old Collegians and Sydenham, Old Boys and Lancaster Park and Riccarton and EastShirley. The first round of three matches in the A.N.Z. Bank knock-out competition will be played today. Two of the games will be at Hagley Oval, where High School Old Boys will meet Marist and Riccarton will play Burnside-West. The third fixture, set down for the back ground at Lancaster Park, will be between Lancaster Park and the Canterbury Cricket Supporters’ Club-
