Archaeology grants

Two grants for archaeological studies have been made by the Historic Places Trust. Mr B. J. Brailsford, of Christchurch, will receive $l2OO to assist his research into Maori earthworks in the South Island. The Waikato Art Museum, at Hamilton, will receive $l5OO for excavation at the Te Miro swamp site near Cambridge. The W’ork was begun last summer, and the recovery of carved wooden artefacts will be completed this season.
