The purpose of the course is to bring into the University persons who have had some experience of non-academic life and who wish to illuminate that experience by academic study. It is expected that most applicants will be above the age of 25. Although fromal entrance qualifications are not required, the standard of work expected from students will be comparable to that required in regular first-year Universityclasses. Classes will be conducted in the following: Literature (Fiction or Drama). Chemistry. Political Science, Visual Arts, History. Geography. Philosophy. (Chinese) Sociology, Greek Art, Maori Studies. Music and Education. Hours of instruction will be between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. for about half the classes and in the late afternoon or early evening for the remainder.
