S.I. activities Anglo boosts
/One of the largest North Island caravan manufacturers, Anglo, of Hamilton, will greatly expand its South Island operations. The company. previously solely North Is-land-based. recently began manufacture of its camper trailers from a Christ-church-based factory and now has plans to extend this to include manufacture of all its caravans as well.
“We see the South Island as a burgeoning market,” said Mr Peter Wise, managing director of the United Caravan Corporation, a nation-wide marketer of the Anglo brand, speaking on behalf of the caravan manufacturers. “We wish to give our customers there the best service possible." There has been an Anglo dealer network in
the South Island for many years but the caravans have always been freighted from Hamilton. With the advent of the Christchurch factory, this system will be gradually phased out. The factory will be a completely autonomous enterprise, locally staffed and run. Soutn Island firms will also supply the many materials required for the production of (he caravans and camper trailers.
“It will mean that South Island buyers will have top local service” said Mr Wise. “It wll imean speedier delivery of the newest caravans and implementation of improvements, and quick action on warranty claims.”
Anglo, at present, makes a range of four camper trailers and caravans from 3.9 m to 6.5 m.
