We are seeking a Hardware Consultant to be located at one of our Regional computer Centres in Auckland or Christchurch. The successful applicant will assist in the management of a large scale computer installation with heavy teleprocessing usage. He will be responsible for: — Forward planning for hardware growth — Ensuring optimum use of existing hardware — Supervision and management of the Data Communications Control personnel in Auckland and Christchurch — Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE ON THE MARKET including — main frame computers — mass storage devices — minicomputers — teleprocessing hardware — minicomputer devices — data entry equipment ’ Primary relationships with suppliers of equipment to the Department Applicants should have experience in systmes programming, evaluation of hardware and software and also have the ability to develop performance standards.
