Typhoid tests
Results of the typhoid ests on specimens from 30 crew members of the Korean fishing boat Endeavourers 7 are expected to be known today. Last evening the vessel was still in quarantine, at anchor in the stream off Diamond Harbour. A member of the crew, Mr Y. Park, aged 36, had been confirmed as a carrier of typhoid, and was still in isolation in Christchurch Hospital.
Mr Park apparently contracted the disease in Korea, before the vessel left Pusan for New Zealand waters. He was admitted to Wellington Hospital on September 26 but later discharged himself when he learned that his vessel was due to sail. When the Wellington Hospital confirmed that Mr Park was a typhoid carrier, the Endeavours 7 was directed to quarantine at Lyttelton.
