Hostel use improving
The use of youth hostels in New Zealand has improved after three years of decline, the annual conference of the Youth Hostels Association was told on Saturday.
The national chairman. Mr W. D. Paterson, of Dunedin, said that bed nights recorded to the end of the last financial year had declined by about 25 per cent from the association’s record peak of 266,754 in 1975. Mr Paterson said that it was a reflection of a situation which had affected the tourist industry as a whole. “It should make us exarn-
