Diamond higher
The diamond stocks, led by C.R.A. replaced the uraniums as the central point of interest on firm Australian markets yesterday. CRA rose 10c at 343 amid speculation about the Ashton diamond on which the company is expected to report this week. The uraniums lost their momentum, but Queensland Mines rose 5c to 390 c while Kathleen Investments remained steady. Peko dropped 10c to 616 c in early trading, but made a partial recovery to close at 620 c. B.H.P. continued its recovery gaining 6c to 816 c. The Bank of NSW gained
6c to 676 c, the National 5c to 265 c and the ANZ 7c to 342 c. Westfield rose 4c to 564 c on continuing rumours of a possible bid for the company.
