Youth soccer squad named

Woolston W.M.C, might not have been as successful as Trans Tours United in the Rothmans Soccer League this season but it has gained one honour that its fellow Christchurch side has failed to achieve.

Two of its players, Colin Chisholm and Stuart Chalmers, have been named in the New Zealand under-19 team to contest the World Youth Cup elimination matches in November. The third Christchurch representative is the Western team’s captain, Adrian Kersten. United had three players in the final training squad but none were included.

The team will train with

its coach (Mr Doug Moore) and its manager (Mr Barrie Trueman) for a week before the elimination tournament begins in Auckland on November 12. New Zealand will meet Australia, Taiwan and Fiji.
