Shots fired
Shots have been fired at the London home of an Arab ; diplomat in what the police ■ feared might be another : flare-up in clashes between rival Arab groups in Britain. A police spokesman said several shots were fired but no-one was hurt and only one cartridge was found. Although it was not clear whether the action was linked, British authorities ordered stiffer security at London’s Heathrow and other major British airports. All airports were told to close public viewing areas , and the tops of multi-storey buildings which overlook airfield runways. — London. Lebanon clashes About 20 Syrians died when they attacked Christian villages in a mountain area north of Beirut on Friday, according to Right-wing sources. Ships collide Four people have been] killed and 18 injured in a] collision between a trawler and a ferry boat carrying 150 passengers off the Portuguese fishing town of Peniche, hospital officials said. I Uemura rescued The Japanese adventurer, ! Naomi Uemura, two television cameramen, and 16 i sled dogs have been rescued , from the Greenland ice-cap by a Canadian plane. Mr Uemura left the northern tip of Greenland last spring with a dog-team in a bid to cover the whole 3000 km icecap alone. He got within 80km of Narssarssuaq last week, but was halted by deep crevasses. Two Japanese television cameramen, who flew up in a light plane to join him were trapped by bad weather and forced to stay on the ice-cap with Mr Uemura. —Narssarssuaq. Officer shot. !
