PA Wanganui The injured Wallaby test fullback, Paul McLean, will consult the former All Black, surgeon, Mr Hugh Burry, in Wellington today. The team’s manager. Mr Ross Turnbull, said last night that ihe injury which McLean suffered in the second test against the All Blacks was not a recurrence of the one which kept lim out of the first international n Wellington. He said a leading ihysiotherapist had confirmed dcLean’s recovery from the nedial ligament problem suffered luring the Manawatu match two reeks ago before he took the leld for the Lancaster Park natch.
‘ Paul, myself and the physiotherapist were absolutely certain that he was fully fit,” Mr Turnbull said. It was learned in a medical examination yesterday that McLean damaged a cartilage in his right knee when he crashed to the ground while taking an up-and-under.
McLean was the third Wallaby full-back to be injured within the space of five days. Laurie Monaghan was invalided out of
the tour with a broken left collar-bone after replacing Roger Gould <pulled hamstring) in the game against Mid-Canterbury. Meanwhile, the Wallabies made a pact not to lose another fame, on tour after the second-test defeat. The tour committee has developed a policy to select the best side to play the last three matches of the tour after the game against Wanganui on Wednesday. ‘•The team has resolved to show’ they are a much better side than was displayed yesterday,” he said. The side for the match against Wanganui:— Geoff Richards; Stephan Streeter, Brendan Moon. Paddy Batch, Martin Knight, BiUy McKid; Peter Carson; Robert Onus; Gary Pearse (captain), Garrick Fay, Keith Besomo, Tom Barker; Chris Handy, Bill Ross, Stan Pilecki.
