Aust, toll links failing
! PA Wellington ; Only emergency toll calls Ito New South Wales will now be accepted by the Post Office. Telephone links between New Zealand and Australia are worsening because of the Tele Communications Technicians’ dispute in Australia, which had now gone 28 days.
The situation in Australia today for the acceptance of toll calls from New Zealand will be: No calls accepted to Queensland and South Australia; limited access to Western Australia: long delays to Victoria and Tasmania: and “emergency only” calls to New South Wales.
Telex services between New. Zealand and Australia are also deteriorating, but so' far the telegram service appears unaffected.
