Port View was disqualified from third place in the Young Quinn Handicap and her driver, Denis Nyhan, was fined $5O for causing interference to Captain Clive, which broke with about 700 m to run.
It was almost 90 minutes after the race that it was announced that Staveley had been promoted to third and Abbe Princess to fourth.
Graham O’Brien was warned to exercise more care in future after it was found that Mount Lambie had hung in and checked Crunluath with about 1100 m to run in the Visitors’ Handicap. Mark Smolensk! told the stewards that in the same race Columnist showed a tendency to shy away from the rails and the horse had broken at the straight entrance when his driver had attempted to straighten him. Dick Landford, the driver of Lord Logan in the Hillmorton Handicap, was warned about the manner in
which he used the whip to wards the end of the ract Langford drove the hors, when its usual driver, Joh: Ryan, was unable to get ti the meeting because o weather conditions.
