Crowd down, tote up
Although the crowd of ' 7000 was some 1400 down on the previous year, the Metropolitan Trotting Club had a most successful meeting on Saturday. On-course betting rose by $10,472 to $361,268, while off-course the total was $702,258.50, an increase of $53,146. Club officials think it isi the first time the million-) dollar mark has been ex-' !ceeded at a national meeting. The meeting was held in icold weather, with an occasional light shower of I drizzle. The track was a Jlittle slush on top early, but provided splendid footing. , Wee Win won the Travelodge horse of the meeting award made by both trotting journalists and patrons.
