Test on TV, unofficially

The rugby test between Australia and New Zealand at Lancaster Park today will be televised live. As usual, the Rugby Football Union will not allow Television One to tell viewers that the test will be televised but as usual with every' rugby test TVl’s cameras will provide national coverage this afternoon.

Both teams should get their wish for a firm ground for the test. The rain on Thursday broke an unseasonal drought and softened the ground. The oval was in splendid order yesterday. However, if the forecast for south-westerly winds and occasional showers is correct it may keep the crowd to about 45,000.

All the 27,000 seats have been sold, including about 4500 in the enclosure, which has never previously been required for an Australian test.

The weather will probably determine whether the embankment gets anywhere near its capacity of about 30,000.
