Cars may go
The likelihood of reduced car use in New Zealand should be an important consideration in reading and motorway planning, according to a report released yesterday by the Minister for the Environment (Mr V. S. Young), the Press Association reports. The report, which high-
lights issues raised at a Government - sponsored seminar in May, predicts that the sharp increases in oil prices expected in the 1980 s is likely to lead to a decline in the use of private motor vehicles. Already there are signs of vehicle use stabilising because of petrol prices, it says.
