The world outside TV ads
Annie is a seven-year-old whose parents do not treat her like the parents treat their children in the TV commercials.
She is not perfect, and they make that obvious. Her father is always busy and her mother is constantly scolding and impatient. Annie has someone to turn to, though — Bartlett, her toy rabbit. She runs away from home with Bartlett.
The play then explores the reactions of the par» ents and Annie when she presents herself some hours later at the local police station.
Tina Lyons, the seven-year-old daughter of author Bill Lyons, plays Annie in this 8.8 C.. production. “Bartlett” was recorded entirely on location; and the London “Times” critic had high praise for the child’s radio performance. National radio tonight.
