A bottle store attendant was beaten during a robbery at the Caledonian Hotel in St Albans at closing time last evening. He was taken to Christchurch Hospital by ambulance and later transferred to Princess Margaret Hospital suffering from head injuries.
Three young men walked into the bottle store, hit the attendant, and ran out with the till, said a police spokesman. The police are looking for three Polynesians aged about 20. Two are about 175 cm (sft 9in). The police are also trying to find the till.
