Netball women start well
PA Timaru Canterbury made a good start in the national netball tournament at Timaru yesterday when it overpowered Nelson, 33-12. Last year’s first grade winner, Auckland, easily beat the bottom-seeded King Country, 30-15. The closest game in the first grade was between Otago and Waikato. It was goal for goal until Waikato pulled ahead in the last few minutes to win, 23-20. Five hundred players are taking part in the tournament.
