His own grandpa!
"I knew Fergie was getting on, but i didn’t think he was THAT old.” This has been the reaction of two Christchurch men alter losing wagers to a haw’k-eyed rugby enthusiast over the poser, “Which man played for the All Blacks before his father did?”
The answer, thanks to a typographical error in this year’s edition of the Rugby Almanack of New Zealand, is William Fergus McCormick. In its rathers and sons section, the Almanack lists Archibald George McCormick as having played for New Zealand in 1925, and Fergie from 1865-71.
