NZPA Sydney Nine men and a woman were arrested after an antiBudget demonstration inside the Sydney Stock Exchange building yesterday. All will appear in Central Court tomorrow, charged with malicious injury! assaulting police, resisting arrest, and hindering police. Share trading was halted for about 15 minutes after wild protesters invaded the building, smashing glass panels at the entrance to the trading floor, and ripping noticeboards carrying official Exchange information from the walls. At least three people were cut by broken glass during the melee. The demonstrators were part of a crowd of about 10,000 who marched through City streets and rallied in Sydney Town Hall Square to protest against last week’s Federal Budget.
