Young driver killed
A schoolgirl was killed at 2.30 a.m. on Saturday in Avoca Street, Kaikoura, when the vehicle she was driving overturned and rolled on her. She was
Andrea Clare Mackie, aged . 15, of 4 Weka Street, I 1 : South Bay, Kaikoura
Three passengers were in the vehicle: David Anthony Sjoberg, aged 18; Stephen Battersby, aged 20; and Dianne Green, aged 15, all of Kaikoura.
Dianne Green was later transferred to Christchurch Hospital with moderate injuries, but neither of the youths was injured.
The. car was extensively damaged. A youth died in. Christchurch Hospital yesterday as a result of injuries suffered when he was struck by a car in Cashel Street on Friday evening. He was Christopher Robin Duke Heitia. aged 18, of 122 Huxley Street, Sydenham.
He suffered severe injuries to his head, back, arms, and legs in the accident, which occurred about 5.35 p.m. near the
intersection of Cashel Street and Linwood Avenue. The driver of the ear was not injured.
