Cyclists start 8th
NZPA staff corrsepondent London New Zealand will today ride off at eighth in the 400 m teams pursuit race at the world cycling championships in Munich. The top eight finishers in the race will qualify for the next round. Meanwhile the 20 year-old Palmerston North rider, Anthony Cuff, was yesterday eliminated from the 1000 m sprint in the first round, and
was later eliminated in a repechage. The team manager. Mr Bill Main, told the NZPA from Munich that Cuff had ridden well despite his elimination. Detlef Macha dethroned the defending champion. Norbert Duipisch, in an allEast German final to win the amateur pursuit gold medal. Uwe Unterwalder made it an East German affair by taking the bronze.
