Easy wins in badminton
AU seeded players in the mens and women’s open singles got I through to the quarterfinals of the Canterbury-South Island bad--1 niinton championships at the Skellerup Hall last evening. : Only one player, Paul Boatwood dropped a game. Eion Kirkland (Knox) took the first game but Boatwood, after taking some time to get into his striae, won the second and third games comfortably. The national representative at the Edmonton Commonwealth Games. Steve Wilson (Otago), allowed Lindsay Wilson 18 points in a straight games win, while Peter Whiting easily beat Warren Edgecumbe. Alison Ross won her second round match by default against Christine Campbell, while Karen Phillips, the fourth seed, was untroubled to beat Jetiny Hood. Colleen Austin took the first game off Gillian Ellis (Otago) but struggled from then on. Her
