Cueists to defend titles
Brian Kirkness and Dave Meredith will head the Canterbury challenge for the New Zealand billiards and snooker titles in Hastings next month.
Kirkness, the national billiards title-holder, and Meredith, the snooker champion, both played creditably for New Zealand at the world tournament last year. The billiards players, in order of merit, are Kirkness, Meredith, Eric Simons and Graham Foster. Canterbury’s snooker line-up will be Meredith, Kirkness, Barry Edlin, Lou Adams and Bill Adams.
Tennis.—Results of a recent A grade women’s tennis field day at Wilding Park were: Mesdames L. Makinson and M. Forsyth (St Paul’s: 1; Mesdames J. Davies and M. Leggat (Wycola Park) 2; Mesdames N. Frew and M. Wilson (Edgeware) 3.
