NEW ZEALAND STEEL MINING LTD MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED for the position of Maintenance Supervisor at Taharoa (south of Kawhia). The sand mining operation uses a dredge and concentration plant and a recently completed dry mining plant serviced by bulldozers to mine concentrate and export 2,000.000 tons of Titanomagnetic concentrate per year through an offshore terminal. Applicants for this position should have a sound practical background in heavy engineering and/or heavy plant maintenance. Leadership quality is an essential prerequisite because the position involves supervision of a small group of tradesmen and other personnel. Tertiary qualifications would be advantageous but are not essential for this position. Duties will include supervision of maintenance personnel and planning and cost control of maintenance. Hydraulic experience would be of benefit for the dredge maintenance. A mature person is sought for this job with proven supervisory experience. The successful applicant will be reporting to the Area Engineer at Taharoa and if suitable will be expected to deputise for him.
