Post for mayoral bidder
Last year’s Labour Party candidate for the Christchurch Mayoralty, Mr Alex Clark, is now the new Director of Social Services for Palmerston North. Mr Clark held several posts in the Public Service before campaigning fulltime for Labour in the 1977 local body elections. He had been the South Is-
land’s regional training supervisor for the Department of Social Welfare from 1973 to 1976. Later he became the first Canterbury administrator for Community Volunteers. He was a member of the North Canterbury Hospital Board for three years, and also the founding chairman of the Sydenham Community Committee.
