Export prospects

The trading prospects for New Zealand manufactured goods are better in Los Angeles than anywhere else in the world, according to the New Zealand Export-Im-port Corporation’s newly appointed Los Angeles trade centre manager (Mr Bruce Mitchell). Mr Mitchell has just returned from Los Angeles after making preliminary arrangements for the establish- , ment of a New Zealand I trade centre in the city. He will return to Los Angeles to open the centre in about three weeks.

“We’ll be getting involved directly in the trading itself for small exporters who don’t have the resources for their own on-the-spot repre-

sentation. We will also be conducting in-depth surveys for New Zealand companies to assist them to identify pootential sales areas.” The Export-Import Corporation office will be in Los Angeles but this does not mean that its activities will be restricted to this area alone, he says. “Our basic philosophy is to look at the North American market from the point of view of the New Zealand manufacturer, so that he can sell effectively without having to dash madly all over the United States. “It is a fact that if you can sell effectively in and around Los Angeles, you can open up markets right through North America.
