Swim abandoned
NZPA-Reuter Miami, Florida Two women attempting marathon swims towards Florida from Cuba and the Bahamas have abandoned their attempts. America’s Diana Nyad, attempting the first swim across the Florida Straights from Cuba to Key West, was stopped from reaching her goal by stinging jellyfish and slamming waves. British-born Stella Taylor was also forced to abandon her attempt to swim from the Bahamas to Florida with oniy 22km to go because of prowling sharks.
