Flock slaughter starts
Slaughter of the 5000 sheep at Crater Block, Rerewhakaaitu, was well under way yesterday. Ministry of Agriculture staff began killing the experimental flock at 8 a.m. and will complete the iob today. The sheep are being slaughtered because of the discovery of scrapie in a Finnish landrace ewe on Mana Island. — (PA).
