Mortgages—why not rent?
- The accepted approach to housing in New Zealand is for people to own their own properties. This places stress on young parents. They are faced with several tasks simultaneously —- making heavy mortgage repayments, equipping and developing a home, establishing a re-
lationship themselves and coping with young children. Would a more reasonable system be to rent? The rival merits of renting and purchasing a house are discussed by sociologists and an economist on the concert programme of Radio New Zealand tonight.
