Tourism’s needs
Wellington reporter New Zealand tourism needs to adopt a more comprehensive. knowledgeable and stronger marketing approach, and to identify precisely consumer needs and desires, says the promotion and marketing committee of the Tourism Advisory Council. An achievable target for the New Zealand tourist industry was one based on an average growth of 8
per cent a year in numbers of visitors, the committee told a seminar on tourism, which was held in Parliament Buildings. The adoption of marketing, with an appreciation of the market and consumer attitudes, and the development of products and services to match these needs, was essential.
