To staff these stations the Division will need to double its existing thermal operating staff. THE APPLICANTS: Should have experience that will enable them to qualify for Ministry of Transport Certificates of Competency — Boiler Attendant, 2nd or Ist class stationary engine driver certificate — or have served a mechanical fitting apprenticeship or experience in the operation or maintenance of heavy rotating plant or marine engineering. Every assistance and encouragement will be given with study toward the required qualifications. Divisional training courses are conducted for all levels of development and successful appointees will be required to attend. THE PROSPECTS: Initial appointment will be as Auxiliary Plant Operator or Assistant Operator for training in the operation of steam power plant at Marsdei,., New Plymouth and Huntly. Promotion is available to higher operating positions and eventually to station management. THE PAY AND CONDITIONS: An attractive salary and shift allowance, penal rates etc., is paid. Marsden ‘B’ will be commissioned during 1979 and will have one unit of 250 megawatt capacity and steam conditions of 130 bar, 541 deg C mainsteam and reheat steam to 31 bar, 541 deg C New Plymouth Power Station, in New Plymouth City. Five 120 megawatt boiler turbinegenerator units, each rated at 376 tonnes of steam per hour at 128 bar and 541 deg. C. Huntly Power Station, 32km north of Hamilton due to be commissioned in 1979, will have four, 250 megawatt units having steam conditions of 169 bar, 541 deg.
