PA Auckland The Auckland-owned Petite Evander, which has proved herself the best trotting mare New Zealand has produced, will almost certainly be
brought home after she finishes racing in the United States. The outstanding mare is shown above beating Nigel Craig at Addington Race® way in the Canterbury Park Trotting Cup in
January, 1977, before she left for America. Petite Evander’s second to Cold Comfort in the International took her earnings this year to 8160,000. In all, she has won 8316,000, of which 853,000 was earned In New Zealand.
She has had eight wins from 16 starts this year and, according to Mr Weaver, last week’s race marked the first time Cold Comfort had beaten Petite Evander. ’‘She beat him in Stockholm and Copenhagen, on the circuit in Europe, and
also twice in .America,’’ he said. Petite Evander will have her next race on Saturday, also at Roosevelt Raceway. Run over a mile and a half, it carries a stake of $65,000.
