VIEWERS’ VIEWS

“In Our View” Sir, — Tonight (August 10), I attended the burial service of the radio programme, “In Our View” with Canon Bob Lowe and Wayne Mowat. I am saddened and also furious, that the “powers that be” in broadcasting did not have the courtesy to advise us (the people) of the departure of this splendid show, so that we could at least pay our last respects. When “In Our View” was born, the prediction by the so-called “wise men” was that it would not last six months and that was two years and a half ago. This has been the most informative and enlightening programme that I (for one) have been privileged to listen to. I am sure many hundreds of New Zealanders, will join me, in saying thak you, to Canon Bob Lowe, Bill Clemens, and Wayne Mowat, for shedding a little light in our darkness. Yours, etc., (Mrs) ETHEL SOTHERAN “Superkids” Sir, — John Collins is very wrong if he thinks

TV2’s “Superkids” should be a parade of monsters. The contestants do not look particularly extraordinary because they are not —they have the same hopes and enjoy the same things as other teenagers, and they are not full of pretensions. Parents did not get a chance to be “pushy” either. These kids were not marketed like Hollywood child stars. Schools put their names forward after looking at performances over a wide range of activities. Maybe the kids are not destined for greatness but there is an air of accomplishment about them. If John Collins cannot see that then youth was obviously wasted on him. And in case any of them ever decides to become a television critic, he might need to keep a cautious eye over his shoulder. Yours, etc., DAVID CLARKSON
