Another blow for Bhana
Balvant Bhana, the young Canterbury hockey player who will miss the national tournament at Masterton later this month because of a persistent leg injury, may also have to withdraw from the New Zealand trials at Palmerston North next month. Bhana has seen two specialists, including the Hamilton doctor, Dr Graeme Campbell. who recently treated ' John Walker, and both have advised that the best cure for his problem is rest. Tendons at the top of his thigh have torn away from the bone. He has been advised to avoid hard surfaces when training and has taken to running on the beach. Bhana is still playing club hockey but feels he is fit enough only for that level, and does not hold much hope of being fully fit for the New Zealand trials on September 15, 16 and 17.
