Consolidated Holdings, Ltd, to allow unions to take over the running of [ the Aulsebrooks biscuit I . and confectionery factory : in Christchurch, says Mr I ] L. G. Morel, secretary of [ * the Canterbury Trades ( Council. Mr Morel was replying ; yesterday to a comment [ by the company’s manag- I I ing director (Mr R. J. Bin- .' i ning) reported on Satur- ; ! day, that he had twice ! * challenged the trade [ * unions to take over the * * running of the factory but ; ; that they had backed : ! down. Mr Morel said the offer [ had been made as an aside [ during conversation. t ! “However, if he’s talkU ing about our owning the I I company and not running ’! it as a managerial team or ’ leasing the factory, that , 11 would give us food for j ! thought. But we would ex- I * pect any offer w-ould be [ ! done in a businesslike i * manner, preferably in [ writing and not just as ; | asides during conversa- ! ' tion.” Mr Morel said.
